The MetròpolisFPLab innovation and youth talent promotion project is coming to an end

Throughout this school year, GARCIA FAURA was chosen as a reference in the industrial field to participate in the MetropolisFPLab project, promoted by the Economic Development Agency of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and the BCN Vocational Training Foundation, with the support of Innobaix, the Baix Llobregat innovation agency.

The MetròpolisFPLAb project allows young vocational students in the Barcelona metropolitan area to face the resolution of business challenges of very different characteristics. Over the course of nine months, students are organized into teams and choose one of the challenges posed by the participating companies. They have to study each case, come up with viable solutions, analyze the pros and cons of each idea and end up defining a prototype that responds to the best possible solution.

Among the companies participating in this year’s MetròpolisFPLab, in addition to GARCIA FAURA, there have been Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, the Port of Barcelona, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Aigües de Barcelona.

Students have faced logistical, marketing, sustainability or resource management challenges.

The winning solution

GARCIA FAURA posed a challenge related to the process of logistics and shipment of products. The winning solution was proposed by a team of three girls from the Escola Massana School of Art and Design in Barcelona. The jury valued its ability to clearly identify the challenge and face the solution from a comprehensive perspective and under circular economy criteria.

The three students will receive a training scholarship that will allow them to carry out paid internships for 2 months in the company, where they will be able to work to carry out the proposed solution, among other activities that will allow them to have a first contact with the world of work.
