High-performance enclosures for the refurbishment of two schools in Barcelona

GARCIA FAURA has started the replacement of the enclosures of two secondary schools in Barcelona. The aim is to improve the thermal and acoustic performance of both facilities and offer greater comfort to users.

Taking advantage of the end of the academic year, GARCIA FAURA has started the works in the secondary schools Ferran Tallada and Rambla Prim, in Barcelona. These are two interventions promoted by the Consortium of Education of Barcelona, an entity that promotes the rehabilitation and improvement of the educational centres of the Catalan capital.

In the case of the IES Ferran Tallada, located in the number 54 of the Gran Vista street, in the district of Horta-Guinardó, GARCIA FAURA is executing about sixty individual enclosures and sets, with sliding, tilt and turn and fixed windows, with aluminium profiles with break of thermal bridge and glazing of high benefits.

As for the IES Rambla Prim, located in the number 223 of the Cristóbal de Moura street, in the district of Sant Martí, GARCIA FAURA is changing 125 enclosures, so much fixed as sliding and hinged, with aluminium profiles with break of thermal bridge and hidden leaf. The aesthetics of the new enclosures will maximize the surface of glazing and will favour this way the entry of natural light in the classrooms.

In both cases, the new enclosures seek maximum thermal and acoustic performance to ensure more efficient buildings and greater comfort for both students and teaching staff.

Three projects with GF’s participation in the Seoul Architecture Biennale

The capital of South Korea hosts until November 5 its Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism. In this edition participates the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, which present six catalan projects. Of these, three have had the intervention of GARCIA FAURA. These are the Mercè Rodoreda Library in Sant Joan Despí, the Civic Center El Roure in Begues and the Alchemika Sector in Barcelona.

GARCIA FAURA reforms the Market of Ninot in Barcelona

The company has been commissioned to dress the exterior of the new market, both at the facade and direct sales positions. A project of great technical complexity given the uniqueness of the design and materials to work. The integral reform of this big Market is one of the major rehabilitation projects currently in progress in Barcelona and should be ready in the first quarter of 2015.
