GARCIA FAURA is taking part in the refurbishment of two of the Les Olympiades towers in Paris
The Catalan company will manufacture and supply more than 2,500 high-performance windows for the London and Antwerp towers, a project that will help to improve residents’ comfort and reduce the buildings’ energy consumption by 54 per cent.
Les Olympiades is a complex of five residential towers built in Paris between 1973 and 1976 which, together with the surrounding commercial and office buildings and spaces, form a veritable city within the French capital. The complex is one of the most iconic examples of Parisian residential architecture from the second half of the 20th century.
Renovation works will be carried out on the London and Antwerp towers within this complex – the two tallest in Les Olympiades. Each tower contains more than 250 social housing flats. The London Tower has 32 storeys and 321 flats, ranging from one to five bedrooms, whilst the 33-storey Antwerp Tower comprises 264 two- and three-bedroom flats.
The renovation project aims to optimise residents’ comfort in both winter and summer and achieve significant improvements in the buildings’ energy efficiency and environmental performance. According to the complex’s owner, Paris Habitat (the capital’s main public social housing provider), the work will reduce the towers’ energy consumption by 54 per cent.
One of the main areas of work will be the replacement of the aluminium profiles. In total, more than 2,500 windows will be replaced with new, high-performance units, tailored to the specific requirements of the project, particularly in terms of aesthetics. The new windows will have a two-tone finish, with a different colour on the interior and exterior surfaces.
Manufacture and supply
For this project, GARCIA FAURA is responsible for the technical development of the solutions and the manufacture of the windows, which began this October, as well as their delivery to the site.
GARCIA FAURA’s involvement in this project also includes the manufacture and supply of blinds with high-density slats and a bioclimatic system, fitted with motorised controls. The new glazing, which also offers high thermal performance, will help to improve the energy efficiency of the homes and the comfort of their occupants.
