MITECO Entrusts GARCIA FAURA With The Renovation Of Its Historic Headquarters

MITECO entrusts GARCIA FAURA with the renovation of its historic headquarters

GARCIA FAURA is participating in the refurbishment of the headquarters of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) with the aim of improving its energy efficiency while respecting the aesthetics of the historic building.

The headquarters of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) occupies one of the buildings in the Nuevos Ministerios government complex, specifically on its southern side, at the intersection of San Juan de la Cruz square and Paseo de la Castellana, in the heart of Madrid.

The complex, which houses other ministries, was begun in the 1930s during the Second Republic but was not completed until the 1940s, after the end of the Civil War.

The work currently being carried out aims to improve the energy efficiency of the MITECO headquarters and implement renewable energies, thereby halving CO₂ emissions.

To this end, the building will use geothermal energy, but will also replace all its windows and doors with others featuring a thermal break system, which will improve the insulation of courtyards and roofs.

In this regard, GARCIA FAURA is manufacturing and installing more than 220 façade units for this project, with iron and glass profiles and different types and openings, in order to preserve the building’s aesthetics as much as possible.

GARCIA FAURA has created a green sealing gasket specifically for this project, when they are usually black due to the original material, and special brass handles with a classic design.
